The Instituto de Ciencia Molecular (ICMol), of the Universitat de València, welcomed a delegation from ICEX together with representatives from four Japanese companies: Terumo, Rohto, Oji and Urban Development. The meeting provided an opportunity to present some of the institute’s research lines, scientific and technical capabilities, and knowledge transfer projects.
The visit began with an institutional reception and a welcome address by ICMol’s Director. This was followed by a brief round of presentations by the participating companies, and then by contributions from several ICMol research groups and institute-linked spin-offs.
During the visit, the activities of the 2DChem group, led by Gonzalo Abellán Sáez, and the spin-off Matteco were presented; together with the Crystal Engineering Lab, CEL, led by Guillermo Mínguez Espallargas and Mónica Giménez Marqués; the Molecular Optoelectronic Devices Team, MOED, led by Hendrik Bolink; and the Functional Inorganic Materials Team, Funimat, led by Carlos Martí-Gastaldo, together with the spin-off PMA.
These presentations showcased ICMol’s potential in areas related to molecular chemistry, advanced materials, energy, molecular electronics and knowledge transfer to the productive sector. The meeting also highlighted the role of ICMol’s knowledge transfer area in identifying collaboration opportunities and promoting projects with scientific, technological and business impact.
The meeting concluded with a visit to the centre, allowing the delegation to learn first-hand about the institute’s facilities and research environment.
This visit reinforces ICMol’s international dimension and its commitment to collaboration between research centres, companies and institutions dedicated to innovation.
