Gonzalo Abellán Sáez, leader of the 2D-Chem research group at the Institute of Molecular Science (ICMol) and Associate Professor at the University of Valencia, has been awarded one of the 2025 Research Excellence Awards by the Royal Spanish Society of Chemistry (RSEQ). This prestigious recognition highlights his outstanding scientific career in the development of novel two-dimensional materials and his impact on the field of molecular chemistry.
In addition to his research work at ICMol, Gonzalo Abellán is co-founder and CTO of Matteco, a company focused on developing sustainable technological solutions, and co-founder and former president of ACCENT, the Association of Excellent Scientists of the GenT program, from which he has promoted initiatives to raise the visibility of scientific talent and strengthen the research community linked to this strategic program.
The award was announced on April 30, 2025, following approval by the RSEQ General Assembly of the proposal submitted by the Jury during its meeting the previous day.
