BBPore 2025 has officially kicked off in Valencia, marking the first edition of this international scientific congress dedicated to porous materials and their growing impact in the fields of biomedicine and biotechnology.
Held on May 8th and 9th at the Centre Cultural La Nau of the Universitat de València, BBPore 2025 brings together researchers and experts from around the world to explore the unique properties of RPMs including their highly ordered 3D structure, large specific surface area, and tunable porosity — which make them ideal for applications such as tissue engineering, controlled drug delivery, biomedical implants, and biosensor development.
During the opening session, Mónica Giménez-Marqués and Francesco Carraro, members of the organizing committee, welcomed attendees and emphasized the congress's aim to foster scientific dialogue and collaboration in this fast-evolving field.
The congress features an outstanding lineup of invited speakers:
- Paolo Falcaro (TU Graz, Austria)
- David Fairen-Jimenez (University of Cambridge, UK)
- Patricia Horcajada (IMDEA Energy, Spain)
- Ross Forgan (University of Glasgow, UK)
- Christian Serre (Institut of Porous Materials of Paris, France)
- Sara Rojas (University of Granada, Spain)
- Francesco Carraro (TU Graz, Austria)
- Clémence Sicard (Institut Lavoisier, France)
- Beatriz Pelaz (CiQUS – Universidade de Santiago de Compostela, Spain)
- Carlos Martí (Institute of Molecular Science – ICMol, Spain)
The organizing committee of BBPore 2025 is composed by Mónica Giménez-Marqués, Guillermo Mínguez Espallargas, and Francesco Carraro.
With a dynamic agenda of keynote lectures, thematic sessions, and networking opportunities, BBPore 2025 positions itself as a landmark event to advance porous material-based solutions for health and biotechnology challenges.
