We are delighted to announce that Javier Carmona García, from the QCEXVAL group at ICMol, has received two prestigious national awards in recognition of his outstanding doctoral thesis.

  • The 9th Prize for the Best Doctoral Thesis in Photochemistry, awarded by the Photochemistry Specialized Group of the Royal Spanish Society of Chemistry (RSEQ).

  • The Best Doctoral Thesis Award, granted by the Specialized Group of Atomic and Molecular Physics (GEFAM).

His thesis, entitled “Atmospheric chemistry of mercury and sulfur induced by sunlight: Quantum-chemical modelling and environmental implications”, was carried out at the Institute of Molecular Science (ICMol - Universitat de València) under the supervision of Prof. Daniel Roca Sanjuán (ICMol - UV) and Prof. Alfonso Saiz López (IQF Blas Cabrera - CSIC).

This recognition highlights the scientific quality and societal relevance of his research, which applies cutting-edge quantum chemical modeling to address key processes in atmospheric chemistry with environmental impact.

The entire ICMol community warmly congratulates Javier for this exceptional achievement.

Congratulations, Javier!
