Researchers from the Institute of Molecular Science (ICMol) at the University of Valencia, Alberto Montoya Ruiz (2DSmartMat – 2D Smart Materials Lab) and Geraldine Sánchez Dueñez (PRG – Photochemistry Reactivity Group), have won the first prize for Best Business Project at the program Empowering Academia: Cultivating Entrepreneurial Mindsets and Real-World Skills (BIP), held from 8 to 13 September 2025 at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (JGU Mainz), Germany.
The Academic Entrepreneurship BIP aims to provide participants with essential entrepreneurial skills and knowledge to succeed in both academic and professional environments. Over the course of five days of intensive training, the program combined networking activities, training sessions, and practical exercises, culminating in the group presentation of a business idea before an international jury.
This edition brought together students from nine European universities, fostering a multicultural environment and enabling the exchange of experiences across disciplines and countries.
In the final presentation, the ICMol team won first prize with an innovative project that integrates the design of nanodevices based on two-dimensional materials with artificial intelligence tools, offering applications in advanced electronics and biomedicine.
This recognition further strengthens ICMol’s commitment to the comprehensive training of young researchers, promoting not only scientific excellence but also the development of entrepreneurial skills and the ability to transfer knowledge to society.
