ICMol researchers take part in the Valencia Digital Summit 2025...

Four researchers from the Institute of Molecular Science (ICMol) at the University of Valencia are taking part this week in the Valencia Digital Summit 2025 (VDS), one of Europe’s most prominent international technology events. The summit celebrates its eighth edition on October 22–23 at the City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia, under the theme “Collaborate Today. Transform Tomorrow.”

Organised by Startup Valencia, the VDS brings together leading technology companies, startups, investors, and institutions from across the innovation ecosystem, establishing Valencia as a global hub for technology and entrepreneurship.

Representing ICMol are Mónica Giménez-Marqués, leader of the Crystal Engineering Lab (CEL); Carlos Martí-Gastaldo, leader of the Functional Inorganic Materials Team (FUNIMAT); Jesús Ferrando Soria, researcher at the Multifunctional Porous Materials Group (MUPOMAT); and José Jaime Baldoví Jachán, leader of the 2D Smart Materials Lab (2DSmartMat).

From different yet complementary perspectives, these four scientists work on the development of new molecular and multifunctional materials  from crystalline solids and hybrid materials to two-dimensional nanomaterials  with applications in energy, sustainability, biomedicine, and smart technologies. Their participation illustrates how fundamental science can drive innovation and generate real societal impact.

Throughout the event, ICMol is present at the University of Valencia stand, where visitors can learn more about the institute’s research lines and its collaborative projects with the business and innovation sectors.

In addition, Antonio Alberola, head of the Technology Transfer Area at ICMol, is presenting the institute’s strategies to strengthen the connection between scientific research and industrial innovation, promoting collaboration with startups, tech companies, and development centres.

ICMol’s presence at the Valencia Digital Summit 2025 reaffirms its commitment to fostering collaboration between science and technology and advancing knowledge transfer as a key tool to address future social and technological challenges.
