Background
Roger Sanchis Gual was born in Valencia (Spain) in 1992. He received his bachelor's degree in chemistry in 2014 from the University of Valencia. Then, he obtained his master's degree in electrochemistry from the University of Cordoba in 2015. In 2016, having been granted a FPU fellowship, he joined Prof. Eugenio Coronado's group at the Institute of Molecular Science as a Ph.D. student and completed it in June 2021. During these years, he combined colloidal chemistry with coordination chemistry in order to design hybrid nanomaterials with the purpose of enhancing the magnetic, electrical and electrochemical. Beyond that, he has also electrochemically characterized many materials for energy storage applications (batteries, electrocatalyzers and supercapacitors).
In 2022, after receiving a postdoctoral fellowship (Margarita Salas), he moved to Zurich to join the group of Prof. Salvador Pane as a postdoctoral associate. During his stay, he focused on taking benefit of his experience in nanoparticles and electrochemistry for preparing biodegradable microrobots and studying piezoelectric nanomaterials.
Research interests
His major research interests are i) the combination of nanomaterials to explore the potential synergistic effects that can arise in the resulting hybrid and ii) the development of novel nanomaterials for energy storage applications.
