• Molecular Spintronics
is a new field of research that combines the ideas and concepts developed in spintronics with the possibilities offered by molecules to perform
electronic functions, to form self-organized nanostructures and to exhibit quantum effects.

It ultimate goal is the creation of new spintronic devices using molecular materials, or in the longer term one or a few molecules in the race
    toward miniaturization.
  • To reach this goal a coordinated effort of the communities of Spintronics, Molecular Electronics and Molecular Magnetism is needed.

These communities are developing a very competitive and high-quality work in Europe in their respective fields. Still, Molecular Spintronics is so
new that an initiative to encourage networking of researchers in this field is of paramount importance.

The present COST ACTION intends to fill this gap integrating these communities around a common Action that should serve to consolidate the
world-leadership of Europe in this field.

European Conference on Molecular Spintronics
Bologna (Italy), November 15th-18th, 2016
http://www.ecmols.eu

The main aim of MOLSPIN is to promote networking and collaboration among the different scientific communities that are active in Europe in Molecular Spintronics to consolidate the world leadership of Europe in this new and emergent field. For this reason, the organisation in Europe of a specific conference devoted to Molecular Spintronics namely the "European Conference on Molecular Spintronics" (ECMS) will increase the visibility of this new field, while contributing to consolidate in Europe a multidisciplinary community working in this topic. It will be organized biannualy (alternating with the European Conference on Molecular Magnetism).

It is a pleasure to announce the First European Conference on Molecular Spintronics - ECMolS 2016 - which will be held in Bologna (Italy) from 15th to 18th of November, 2016.

The Conference has the ambitious goal to establish and implement a new networking scheme able to merge together the fields of Organic Spintronics, Molecular Magnetism and Molecular Quantum Technologies.

ECMolS 2016 is chaired by _Alek Dediu_ (CNR-ISMN Bologna) and Roberta Sessoli (U. Florence).

This first event is co-organized by the COST Action CA15128 on Molecular Spintronics (MOLSPIN)

ECMolS 2016 will especially promote the following topics:

- Spin polarised devices based on molecular materials
- Electrical and optical manipulation of spins
- Molecular nanomagnetism: spintronics and other phenomena
- Single molecule spintronics
- Magnetic effects at hybrid interfaces
- Spin-orbit induced effects
- Molecular spins for quantum technologies
- Processing technologies in molecular spintronics

The abstract submission has been extended to September 16th - we encourage you to submit theoretical and experimental contributions for oral and poster presentations.
